El Fruitcake sent to Coventry

Apparantley El Fruitcake, Ian Atkins, was spotted at last night’s Coventry City versus Leicester City reserve match.

Has Atkins fallen out of love with us in the way we appear to have fallen out of love with him and the Birmingham based experienced manager started looking at the vacant Coventry City post?

Or was he using a local reserve match to do some talent spotting? Perhaps sizing up a big centre forward to cover for the ailing Thorpedo?

Here are the teams from the match: Coventry: Shearer, Whing, Hall, Deloumeaux, Leacock (Nicell 75), Osbourne, Barrett, Pead, Johnson, Suffo, Thornton. Subs Not Used: Reid, Tuffey, Barry, Bains

Leicester: Walker (Logan 68), Canero, Franklin, Dawson, Stearman, Sheehan, Butcher (Muggleton 63), Wykes, Wright, Dodds (Graham 63), Porter Subs Not Used: O’Grady, Lycett.

I only really recognise Graham Barret, Suffo and Ian Walker from that list and they don’t really fit the bill. Coventry’s Dele Adebola would be a stunning capture for us, but I can’t imagine him taking a two division drop. Watch this space. I don’t see Atkins as someone who backs away when the going gets tough, but if a Championship job in the Midlands came his way, I guess it would be too good for him not to consider it.
