Stadium Announcement Imminent

Why is there a stadium announcement coming? Isn’t everything just chugging along nicely in the background.

Even if it was (and who knows for sure outside of the boardroom?), you forget the way the Rovers work.

The team has suffered a dip in form and the feelgood factor from promotion appears to be wearing off a little. Therefore it’s time for the Board to dust off the stadium announcement press release and deflect a bit of the criticism whith yet another non-story about a stadium.

Fortunately, we have moved away from the old we have identified a site story. Now the story is much more likely to be about someone else being appointed to be in charge of something or about signing some piece of legislation or another.

Of course if they were really on the ball they would be generating some kind of feel good story about a club hall of fame or a buy-a-brick scheme to create a more positive atmosphere about the project and to try an involve the fans. As it is it will be some dry old story that allows them to re-print the artists impressions with a picture of a board member looking smug.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not worried about the team, any promoted team usually start off with a burst and then has a period of re-adjustment. You would hope that the manager will see what’s wrong and do something to change it. What does bother me is the lack of involvement and engagement with the fans from the board. Maybe the new directors can improve this. Personally I think they should appoint a Chief Executive the fans can relate to. Where is Gordon Bennet these days?
